Advances in Robotics and Autonomous Systems (Hardcover)

Hardcover. This Reprint brings together representative contributions from the Special Issue "Advances in Robotics and Autonomous Systems", highlighting the evolution of robotics from conventional automation to intelligent, adaptive, and human-centered autonomy. As robotic and autonomous systems increasingly penetrate manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, infrastructure, and daily life, they are becoming a major driver of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The collection presents research on advances in robotics, including parallel and cable-driven robots, soft and continuum robots, marine autonomous systems, and intelligent robotic platforms. Particular emphasis is placed on integrating artificial intelligence with robotic systems, including perception, planning, learning, and control methods that enable robots to operate in complex and unstructured environments. Topics include robotic manipulation, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, vision-language-action models, autonomous driving, sim-to-real transfer, and human-robot collaboration. The Reprint also highlights embodied intelligence, adaptive control, multimodal perception, and autonomous system integration, showing how data-driven intelligence and mechanism-aware modeling are reshaping robotic system design and operation. By combining robotic architectures, advanced modeling and control frameworks, and intelligent autonomy technologies, this Reprint provides an overview of recent progress and future trends in intelligent robotics.
