Advances In Security And Payment Methods For Mobile Commerce

Recently, the emergence of wireless and mobile networks has made possible the admission of electronic commerce to a new application and research subject: mobile commerce, defined as the exchange or buying and selling of commodities, services, or information on the Internet through the use of mobile handheld devices. In just a few years, mobile commerce has emerged from nowhere to become the hottest new trend in business transactions. However, the prosperity and popularity of mobile commerce will be brought to a higher level only if information is securely and safely exchanged among end systems (mobile users and content providers). Advances in Security and Payment Methods for Mobile Commerce includes high-quality research papers and industrial and practice articles in the areas of mobile commerce security and payment from academics and industrialists. It covers research and development results of lasting significance in the theory, design, implementation, analysis, and application of mobile commerce security and payment.

Dr. Wen-Chen Hu received a B.E. degree in Computer Science from Tamkang University, Taiwan, in 1984, an M.E. degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from the National Central University, Taiwan, in 1986, an M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1993, and a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science and Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 1998. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, University of North Dakota. His research interests are in the World Wide Web research and applications including information retrieval, especially electronic and mobile commerce, search engines, data mining, and databases.

Dr. Chung-wei Lee received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at University of Florida in 2001. He has been on the faculty in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Auburn University, Alabama since 2001 where he is currently an assistant professor. He is also a faculty of Auburn's Center for Innovations in Mobile, Pervasive, and Agile Computing Technologies (IMPACT). Dr. Lee’s research areas are in wireless networks, network security, multimedia communication, quality of service (QoS), and mobile commerce.

Dr. Weidong Kou is Director and Distinguished Professor of Chinese State Key Laboratory of Integrated Service Networks. He also serves as Adjunct Professor of the University of Maryland and the University of Hong Kong. Professor Kou is the Founding Chair of International Symposium on Electronic Commerce (ISEC). He served as ISEC's General Chair/Program Chair from 1998 to 2001 and Co-Chair of the International Conference on Global Information Technology in 2002. He has been invited as the keynote speakers for many conferences. He has also served as a Guest Editor for special issues on e-commerce for International Journal on Digital Libraries. Prof. Kou has authored/edited 8 books in the areas of e-commerce, security, and multimedia technologies, and published over 60 papers on journals and conferences. He has also authored 9 US and Canada issued and pending patents. Prof. Kou is a Senior Member of IEEE. He was elected as a Member of New York Academy of Sciences in 1992.
