The book explores single-cell analysis, enabling the study of individual cells within a population. It presents recent studies on genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other cellular aspects at the single-cell level.
Single-cell analysis primarily involves examining or manipulating individual cells under specific conditions using optical or electronic microscopes, time-lapse imaging, or confocal microscopy. It is widely used for high-throughput drug screening and evaluating drug effects. Importantly, single-cell analysis allows researchers to uncover cellular heterogeneity within populations, a crucial factor in various scientific and medical fields, including biology, medicine, and biotechnology.
This book provides a comprehensive overview of single-cell analysis, covering fundamental concepts, emerging technologies, and applications across single-cell omics, single-cell RNA and DNA sequencing, and image processing. It highlights the applications of single-cell analysis in synthetic gene networks, bacterial infections, stem cell research, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, precision medicine, and regenerative medicine.
By addressing a wide range of topics, this book fills a critical gap in literature, making it an invaluable resource for PhD students, senior researchers and faculty members in molecular and cellular biology, biomedical sciences, and biotechnology. Considering the relevance of single-cell analysis in industrial biotechnology, the book is also aimed at industry professionals in diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and personalized medicine.
