An acceptable condition book in good shape for it's impressive age. Volume 1 only. Includes scuffing and light knocks to the boards. Front board has detatched and back board has a split making it nearly loose from the binding. The textblock is fairly decent overall with small contemporary annotations and stamps to front free endpage and title page. Heavy foxing to preliminaries and back endpapers and then internal contents clear considerably throughout. A mild wave to the paper. Binding is fairly tight. Print has faded on occasion but is still crisp and perfectly legible. A charming and reliable reading copy. Acceptable: a readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text.
