Xiv + 370 pages + 36 page publishers catalogue of "New and Popular Works". This 2nd edition is "revised" with a new preface and more pages than the first, (which also dropped again by the 3rd edition of 1869), this edition carried about 7 pages on the "Gold Diggings" in Adelaide + 4 woodcut plates inc frontispiece. This has the best narrative of the early issues. Bound in blue blind stamped cloth with full gilt illustrated spine of Kangaroos and Aboriginal male and foliate decoration. Original cream endpapers with the name F. A. Herbert on FFEP in an old hand. the page edges are a little aged, but all uncut as issued, minor rubbing at extremes a lovely copy of this scarce fictional account of the Wilds of Australia by this wife of African explorer T.
