Ralph tries to explain the nutritional value of tomatoes to Elmer. Tomatoes are an excellent source of Vitamin C. Elmer is impressed by his grandfather s wisdom, but is more interested in exploring the wonder of the greenhouse. Elmer, being an adventurous young snail, soon finds himself being carried by a torrent of water toward a large open drain. Will Elmer be saved from certain disaster? Will Elmer learn the origin of the tomato? Will Elmer learn of his family s fate as they traveled along the Oregon Trail in an early American journey?
