About the Authors

Val�rie N�gre, architecte et historienne, est professeur d'histoire des techniques � l'universit� Paris-Sorbonne. Ses recherches portent sur les interactions entre architecture, technique et soci�t� (XVIII^e-XX^e si�cles) et en particulier sur la litt�rature technique et les savoirs artisanaux. Elle a r�cemment publi� : L'Art et la mati�re. Les artisans, les architectes et la technique (1770-1830) (Paris, 2017).

Robert Carvais est directeur de recherche �m�rite au CNRS, Centre de th�orie et analyse du droit. Il oriente ses recherches autour de la confrontation de l'histoire du droit avec l'histoire des sciences et des techniques et vise � retracer la constitution des savoirs juridiques tant � travers l'�tude des sources th�oriques que des normes pratiques dans les champs m�dical, constructif et du travail en g�n�ral.

Philippe Bernardi (Ph.D. 1990), directeur de recherche au CNRS (Lamop-universit� Paris 1 Panth�on-Sorbonne), est m�di�viste et sp�cialiste du monde de la construction. Ses travaux portent principalement sur l'histoire �conomique et sociale des techniques. Il a publi� plusieurs ouvrages dont B�tir au Moyen �ge (Paris, 2011) et R�mun�rer le travail au Moyen �ge. Pour une histoire sociale du salariat (Paris, 2014).
