The Aegean:a Sea-Guide to Its Coasts and Islands: A Sea-Guide to Its Coasts and Islands

The Southern Peloponnese and the approach channels to the Aegean - Cape Malea to Piraeus, including the islands of Spetsai and Idra and the Saronic Gulf with Poros, Aegina and Salamis - Piraeus to Salonika and the Northern Sporades - the Northern Aegean from Salonika to the Dardanelles - from Istanbul through the Sea of Marmara and down the Turkish coast with the Dodecanese (among such islands as Samos, Patmos and Rhodes). Thence from the Eastern Gateway with the Anatolian coast and the shores of ancient Lycia to Crete and the islands of the Cyclades. Captain Denham's descriptions not only capture the magic of these coasts and islands but give explicit instructions on how to reach them, what to do and what to see when you arrive. To his practical advice on supplies, port officials and their whereabouts, food, wine, health, weather and navigation he gives informative notes on the historical background.
