He is cited by Harlan Ellison as a "cartoonist of the absurd, on a par with Winsor McCay, Geo. McManus, Rube Goldberg or Bill Holman." In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Slight rubbing to boards, extremities and spine, resulting in minor loss to illustrations and cloth. Small hole at tail of spine. Small spot of discolouration at head of spine. The odd handling mark to boards. Small closed tear at joint of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned, but generally bright and clean otherwise. Previous owner's inscription to half-title, "To Joe, from Grandmother Bartley 1939". Minor offsetting to pages from illustrations. One or two handling marks, and the odd spot. Very Good Indeed.
