On this take of the traditional fable, this turtle will have to contend with more than just a rabbit. This time, the race is far more difficult as he faces off against not 1 but 6 opponents! Can a turtle defy impossible odds and defeat a rabbit, a pig, a fox, a hedgehog, an echidna and even a cheetah?! Will slow & steady be enough to win this unfair race?

Makes a great gift for ages 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and grades K to 3.

Multiple Morals: This book engages readers making them eager to find out how a turtle could possibly win against 6 opponents. After finishing the book, parents have the opportunity to talk to their children about the racers and what they can learn from each of them.

The Story Behind This Book: As a child and young adult, Mr. Sun thought that the story of the Tortoise & the Hare didn't make that much sense. As he got older, he reflected on his past failures and identified many pitfalls that prevented him from succeeding. Through painful self-examination, he came to realize the wisdom of Aesop's famous fable. He now understands that succeeding is about going at a pace that's right for him, even if it's slow but as long as it's steady. Mr. Sun wanted to share his past mistakes with his two sons Nathan and Ryan so he wrote this book which draws from his own experiences. Mr. Sun tries not to take it too personally when they laugh at each of the racers as they fail.

Mr. Sun's full name is Alexander Sun. He is a first generation Chinese American and was born in California. Growing up, he loved reading books that had something to teach and loved playing video games that didn't teach anything. When he "grew up", he worked at video game company, Blizzard Entertainment, for 11 years. After having his sons Nathan and Ryan, he switched careers to spend more time with them. During the pandemic, he was furloughed and started writing books with life lessons. He enjoys reading those books to his kids as well as playing UNO, building things with Legos and jumping on trampolines.

I'm Nathan! I'm 9 years old. I was born in California and moved to Virginia when I was 1. I have a younger brother Ryan. He is 5. I don't like it when he takes my things. I like to play Minecraft and Legos. I write books and help my dad write books too. I started a Comic Club at my school.
