Dust jacket with nicks. Beaumont (1920-2001) was a jet engine test pilot who flew the first English Electric P.1 and flew the Canberra jet bomber through its paces. His flying career took in the Battle for France and the Battle of Britain with Hurricanes, then tested the Typhoon before taking on the flying bombs and D-Day after which his plane came down in Holland in October 1944 and he became a PoW.
