Agentic AI for Autonomous Vehicles: Safety, Reliability, Law, and Ethics

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated across industries, autonomous vehicles represent one of its most transformative applications. Soon, many vehicles on our roadways may operate as fully autonomous, agentic systems that adapt their decisions in real time through continuous interaction with dynamic traffic conditions, infrastructure, and human behavior. Unlike traditional predictive AI models, these systems require rigorous safety engineering, reliability assurance, thorough verification and validation, and resilience against uncertainty and system failures. Their successful deployment also depends on clear legal accountability frameworks, regulatory compliance, and embedded ethical reasoning to ensure safe, responsible, and trustworthy operation. Agentic AI for Autonomous Vehicles: Safety, Reliability, Law, and Ethics provides academic, industrial, and local government communities with emerging trends in agentic AI and its influence on autonomous vehicles. This book addresses the critical need to develop a technical Agentic AI framework for autonomous vehicles, taking into consideration safety, reliability, legal, and ethical aspects. Covering topics such as AI-powered authentication and access control, charging station utilization, and vehicle fault diagnostics, this book serves as a vital academic resource for graduate and doctoral students, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in the fields of AI, autonomous vehicles, unmanned systems, and related disciplines.
