About this Item

Includes: illustrations, diagrams. Various paginations (approximately 130 pages). Some illustrations in color. Approved for public release. The charge for this wtudy was to evaluate the feasibility of achieving the goals of the Integrated Topsides program, to identify potential roadblocks in the program and long-term opportunities. The JASONs were asked to perform this study in the context of Navy needs and in the context of contractor proposals for development programs. In the course of the evaluation, the JASON team found that many concerns about the multi-functon concept, as well as many aspects of the proposals to address it were narrowly focused to design concepts intrinsic to traditional approaches. At the same the the JASON study team did see synamism of research and development in relevant RF technologies, and increasing interest and willingness to adapt commercial development to Navy needs.
