His current position is associate professor, Department of Production and Systems Engineering, University of Minho, Portugal. He served as director of the Centre for Production Systems Engineering (CESP) for four years. He is currently director of the Master and Postgraduate Course on CIM, and is responsible of the Laboratory for Virtual Enterprises (LABVE), the Department of Production and Systems Engineering, University of Minho. He regularly publishes and participates on international scientific conferences. He serves as a member of the editorial board for several international journals and has served in more than forty scientific committees for international conferences.
