Synopsis:
Agriscience Fundamentals and Applications is the premier introductory textbook for agricultural education in secondary schools. It addresses the entire agricultural industry and introduces science as the basis for higher productivity and for the safest food system in the world. At the same time, the authors introduces agricultural careers and opportunities, the integration of science into the agricultural curriculum, information accessed via the Internet, and National FFA programs related to agriscience and technology.
About the Authors:
Dr. Elmer Cooper is a professor emeritus of the University of Maryland. He taught in public schools for over 17 years, including grades 8 through 12 and adults. Dr. Cooper served as State Supervisor of Agriculture/Agribusiness and Renewable Natural Resources in Maryland for four years. He was a teacher and educator at Virginia Tech and the University of Maryland for 12 years, and many outstanding teachers in the field have benefited from his guidance.
Over the course of his career, L. DeVere Burton has served as a high school agriculture teacher, Idaho State Supervisor/FFA Advisor, Director of Research for Idaho State Division of Professional/Technical Education, and Instructional Dean at the College of Southern Idaho. He was a member of several curriculum development committees sponsored by the Ag Ed Council, and served for four years as an Adult Consultant to the Nominating Committee, National FFA Organization. In recent years, he has been recognized by Who's Who In Science and Engineering; and Who's Who In America. Burton served as Past State President, IVATA; Past National President, NASAE, and has contributed articles to a variety of agricultural magazines and publications.
