Synopsis
This second installment of the first AKIKO trilogy collects issues 8 through 13 of the on-going AKIKO comic book series. In this book, Akiko and her friends continue their journey to rescue the Prince of Smoo from the clutches of Alia Rellapor. Along the way they encounter the insurmountable Great Wall of Trudd, are reunited with P.Q. Goybi, face off with the villainous Loza Throck, and finally reach Alia Rellapor's gargantuan palace! Written and illustrated by Mark Crilley.
About the Author
Mark Crilley was raised in Detroit and currently lives in Royal Oak, Michigan. Formerly an English teacher overseas, Mark lived in Taiwan and Japan for five years and is fluent in Chinese and Japanese. His first published work, the graphic novel "Akiko on the Planet Smoo," was nominated for an Eisner Award as well as the Russ Manning Award for 1995. The AKIKO monthly series, published by Sirius Entertainment, was nominated for four Eisners in 1996, including "Best Continuing Series" and "Best Writer/Artist (Humor)." Marks critical acclaim has continued into 1998, with four more 1997 Eisner nominations for AKIKO, including "Best Continuing Series," "Best Serialized Story," "Best Title for a Younger Audience," and "Best Cover Artist." Most recently, Mark was named one of "The 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment" by ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY in 1998, and received one more Eisner nomination in 1999.
