Alex Henshaw MBE - A Flying Legend: was A British air racer in the 1930s and a test pilot for Vickers Armstrong during the Second World War. He was chief test pilot flying Spitfires and Lancasters at the Castle Bromwich aeroplane factory. Henshaw led a team of 25 test pilots and personally tested up to 20 aircraft a day; it is been estimated that the number of Spitires flown by him was equivalent to 10% of total Spitfire and Seafire production. Awards: Order of the British Empire, Queen's Commendation for Brave Conduct.
