Alex and the Long Way Around (Alex and the Wild Paths)

Sometimes the safest path is the longest one.

Alex knows the trail. She knows how to plan, how to pace herself, and how to stay calm when things don’t go perfectly. But this journey isn’t about getting lost—it’s about keeping going.

With a steady trail horse beside her, Alex chooses the long route. Then the weather shifts. Rain lingers. Water rises. Time slips away. Shortcuts appear, tempting and uncertain, but every mile reminds Alex that rushing has a cost.

Step by step, Alex learns to move with patience instead of pressure—reading the ground, listening to the horse, and making choices that protect them both. The path isn’t fast. It isn’t direct. But it’s real.

Alex and the Long Way Around is a grounded middle-grade adventure about endurance, responsibility, and the quiet courage it takes to choose the slower, safer way forward—one careful step at a time.
