The agreement between Sauber and Alfa Romeo brings back to the World Championship stage a name that for so long was an integral part of Formula 1 series. Going back to the 1950 and 1951 seasons, the championship was bathed in the red of the Portellos cars. Then came the eras of Chiti, Autodelta, the partnership with Brabham and then the Biscione marques return to F1 with the Alfa-Alfa. This book contains all this and much more, including the two seasons in the early Seventies with McLaren and March, the premature implosion of the agreement with Ligier and the new Sauber adventure. The story is comprehensively illustrated with hundreds of colour and black and white images, many previously unpublished, and a list of all the results obtained by Alfa Romeo in Formula 1.

About the Author

A scholar of the history of Motorsport, with particular reference to the events of the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Enrico Mapelli has been collaborating for several decades with local and sector publications. He has edited the corner of book culture in some television broadcasts, and has been a speaker of historical competitions for over a decade. He has published some volumes including Monza Duemiladieci, gli Annuari di F. Junior e Un Rally a Monza, the only book that traces the history of the Monza race. For Giorgio Nada Editore he wrote I dati della Formula Uno (2000), Ferrari Mondiali (2008), Formula 1 & Monza. Immagini di una corsa (2016), Alfa Romeo & Formula 1 (2018), Formula 1 70 (2020), and Tutto Senna (2024). For Sias, the body that manages the Monza racetrack, in 2019 he wrote the book celebrating the Italian Grand Prix on the occasion of the ninetieth edition of the race.
