Diese Konferenzen über Algebraische Geometrie haben in Rußland eine große Tradition und finden seit 1979 alle zwei Jahre in Yaroslavl'statt. An der hier dokumentierten achten Konferenz nahmen zum ersten Mal mehrere ausländische Mathematiker teil. Von russischer Seite war eine große Gruppe (Invariantentheorie, Topologie der Mannigfaltigkeiten, Kategorientheorie, Mathematische Physik usw.) vertreten. Dieser Band enthält Beiträge über Moderne Entwicklungen der Algebraischen Varietäten, Moduli von Vektorbündeln auf algebraischen Flächen mit Anwendungen auf Donaldsons Theorie, Twistor-Räume und Anwendungen in der String-Theorie, Hodge-Theorie, Topologie komplex algebraischer Varietäten und andere.
