The Alien Corps

Decades after the discovery of the ancient prophecy that triggered a nuclear war between the major religious groups on Earth*, the Alien Corps is re-formed, and the hunt for a new Messiah begins in earnest.

The prophecy, attributed to Jesus, says that the Lord of Light will be found on distant planets as the end of days approaches. He will gather his followers and come to Earth to fight the final battle against the evil one.

The sole reason for the Corps' existence is to find the Lord of Light before the conflagration begins.

The Galactic Agency has reported an alien spiritual leader called Teacher performing miracles on Prosperine, a planet strategically vital to Earth and its allies.

Commander Hickory Lace and her team are sent to investigate. Could this Teacher be the one the Alien Corps was created to find, or is he merely the latest in a long line of frauds?

Before Hickory can find an answer, she learns of an off-world plot to strip Prosperine of a rare mineral essential for intergalactic travel. If the aggressors succeed, the consequences for Earth could be devastating.

Hickory has one chance to stop them. She must learn to harness the powerful empathic gift she was born with and find out precisely who or what this Teacher represents.

What readers say about this epic sci-fi action adventure.

"Why you should read: Will the Humans agenda completely destroy the alien’s way of life? Will the various factions in the alien’s world crumble and collapse into civil war under the threat? Will Hickory come to terms with her conflicted loyalties and fractured relationships? Who is this mysterious ‘messiah’ who inspires and divides the aliens?"

"McDermott creates a very original and hopeful future world similar to the kind of sci-fi I grew up loving. His alien characters are delightful and believable. I couldn't wait to read the second book, Rise of the Erlachi, which is even better!"

"Great characters; storyline with action, drama, and fast-paced intrigue; and unique description of an alien planet and its society. Highly recommended. I would get other books in the series."

"I was really impressed with this book from start to finish. The author's crisp, clear writing style was truly a pleasure to read. The adventure never let up. The characters were interesting and relatable. And the world! The author really lets you see the world of Prosperine, from the strange-looking people to the odd and sometimes terrifying beasts. The science is all believable, and there's enough without it being too much. The book has a satisfying conclusion while at the same time leaving you ready for the next adventure. I can't wait to read book 2."
