The Alleged Haunting of B-- House;Including a Journal Kept During the Tenancy of Colonel Lemesurier Taylor

A chill lingers at the edge of memory, as if the walls themselves were listening. The Alleged Haunting Of B-- House delivers a finely carved doorway into a Victorian world where a manor's shadows keep a meticulous diary of what occurs after dark. In this restored edition, A. Goodrich-Freer's haunting narrative blends gothic fiction with a historical mystery, weaving a tale that reads like a paranormal investigation and a chronicle of tenancy and haunting. The journal kept during Colonel Lemesurier Taylor's tenancy offers a lucid, almost forensic view of fear-curtained rooms, unexplained footsteps, and moments when the rational mind gives way to dread-while the atmosphere remains unmistakably English, steeped in the rhythms of Victorian England and the masterful mood of Edgar Allan Poe and Bram Stoker. Literary and historical significance radiate from this reprint: not merely a story, but a cultural artefact that captures a sensibility of its era, preserved for today's readers and for future generations. The work will appeal to casual readers who relish a taut ghost story and to collectors of literature who seek a genuine link to a storied past. Out of print for decades and now republished by Alpha Editions, Restored for today's and future generations. More than a reprint - a collector's item and a cultural treasure. This is gothic fiction at its most precise, a haunting diary records that endures.
