Alliteration In The Chanson De Roland And In The Carmen De Prodicione Guenonis (1921)

Alliteration In The Chanson De Roland And In The Carmen De Prodicione Guenonis (1921) is a book written by Alexander Haggerty Krappe. It explores the use of alliteration in two medieval epic poems, the Chanson de Roland and the Carmen de Prodicione Guenonis. Alliteration is a literary device that involves the repetition of similar sounds at the beginning of words in a sentence or phrase. Krappe examines how alliteration is used in these two poems to create rhythm, emphasize certain words, and convey meaning. The Chanson de Roland is a French epic poem from the 11th century that tells the story of the Battle of Roncevaux Pass, while the Carmen de Prodicione Guenonis is a Latin poem from the 12th century that tells the story of the betrayal of King Arthur by his wife Guinevere. Krappe's analysis provides insight into the techniques used by medieval poets and sheds light on the cultural and historical context in which these poems were written. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
