Alliteration In The Chanson De Roland And In The Carmen De Prodicione Guenonis (1921)

""Alliteration In The Chanson De Roland And In The Carmen De Prodicione Guenonis"" is a book written by Alexander Haggerty Krappe and published in 1921. The book focuses on the use of alliteration in two medieval poems, the Chanson de Roland and the Carmen de Prodicione Guenonis. Alliteration is a literary technique that involves the repetition of the same sound at the beginning of words in a phrase or sentence. Krappe explores how alliteration is used in these two poems to create rhythm, emphasis, and meaning. The Chanson de Roland is an epic poem that tells the story of the Battle of Roncevaux Pass, while the Carmen de Prodicione Guenonis is a shorter poem that recounts the betrayal of Charlemagne by his wife's cousin. Krappe's analysis of these two poems provides insights into the use of alliteration in medieval literature and the importance of sound in conveying meaning. The book is a valuable resource for scholars of medieval literature and linguistics, as well as anyone interested in the history of literary techniques. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
