A Practical, No-Fluff Guide to Designing, Engraving, Cutting, and Getting More Done with LightBurn
Ready to stop guessing your way through LightBurn?
Whether you're just getting started with laser cutting and engraving or you've already spent time clicking through LightBurn trying to figure out why your design isn't cutting, engraving, positioning, or coming out the way you expected, this guide is designed to help you understand the workflow and work with confidence.
LightBurn User Guide takes you from the fundamentals to practical production techniques without overwhelming you with unnecessary technical jargon or obscure features you'll rarely use.
Instead of simply telling you which button to click, this book focuses on understanding what you're doing, why it matters, and what to check when something goes wrong.
Inside, you'll learn how to:
• Understand how LightBurn fits into the complete laser cutting and engraving workflow
• Install LightBurn and configure your workspace
• Connect and configure your laser correctly
• Navigate the LightBurn interface with confidence
• Create, edit, combine, and refine shapes
• Work with text, fonts, spacing, and professional typography
• Import, clean, and prepare artwork for laser processing
• Prepare photographs and other images for engraving
• Organize designs using layers and assign the correct operations
• Understand the relationship between speed, power, passes, and results
• Design with kerf, tolerances, tabs, spacing, and real-world manufacturing in mind
• Position jobs accurately using origins, coordinates, and framing
• Develop reliable material settings through systematic testing
• Use templates, jigs, offsets, duplication, alignment, and other production techniques
• Troubleshoot common LightBurn and laser workflow problems
• Build a repeatable workflow that makes future projects faster and more predictable
You'll also get a LightBurn Quick Reference and Glossary for those moments when you need a fast answer instead of rereading an entire chapter.
This guide is built around a simple principle:
Create. Prepare. Organize. Test. Verify. Run.
The goal isn't to memorize every LightBurn feature. The goal is to understand enough of the software and laser workflow that you can make informed decisions, recognize problems, test solutions, and produce better results.
Whether you're working on signs, personalized products, decorations, prototypes, gifts, small-batch products, or simply learning what your laser can do, this guide gives you a practical foundation you can return to whenever you need it.
Learn LightBurn. Skip the Fluff. Get to Work.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
