ROGER BLACKWELL was born in the Missouri Ozarks and almost never made it out of there, as you will discover in Chapter 1. His early years were spent on a farm where he learned child labor laws do not apply to farm kids. After studying at Northwest Missouri State University and Missouri University, he received a Ph.D. at Northwestern University and became Professor at The Ohio State University, where he taught over 65,000 students, believed to be more than any other U.S. professor.

Throughout his youth, he learned how to achieve an education without money from parents or debt, a path that led him through several career jobs and success as an entrepreneur.

At Ohio State, he taught in the Fisher College of Business and the OSU Medical School, while writing 39 books on consumer behavior and marketing used in universities throughout the world.

After retiring from OSU, he was sentenced to a Federal Correctional Institution where he tutored hundreds of inmates to receive a GED, and learned lessons about a nation that can only be learned in prison. He also began writing Saving America: How Garage Entrepreneurs Grow Small Firms into Large Fortunes, describing how to start a successful business and grow existing firms, published after his release from prison by Union Hill Publishing.
