About the Author

John C. Walker, Executive Director of the Tipton County Foundation since early 1993, returned to Tipton after attending Hanover College and serving as an infantry officer during the Korean War. He was owner/manager of the Tipton Produce Company, Tipton Locker Plant, Tipton Meat Market and Walker Poultry Farms before joining Hy-Line Chicks in 1962 serving as Egg Marketing Manager. Walker transferred to Pioneer Hi-Bred International serving as Sales Communications Manager until 1989 when he became a Sales Training Associate. He retired from Pioneer in the fall of 1992. Mr. Walker is a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge # 1012, The Tipton County Memorial Hospital Development Council and Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Tipton County Foundation.
