Alpaca Perspectives: Inspiration, Images and Insights from the Paddock

If you’re expecting picture-perfect farm life… this isn’t that book.
It’s better.

Alpaca Perspectives takes you behind the farm gate and into the everyday life of a working alpaca farm in rural South Australia, where days rarely go to plan, the animals have opinions, and the smallest moments often hold the biggest truths.

Farmer, fibre artist, and storyteller Amee Dennis pairs stunning photography with warm, honest, funny reflections on the themes that shape us all — authenticity, resilience, joy, hope, connection, opportunity, and the reality of a life that is both messy and meaningful.

This isn’t just a book about alpacas.
It’s a book about being human.

Through tender, chaotic, and often laugh-out-loud stories pulled straight from the paddock, Amee reveals the lessons the alpacas taught her while she was busy thinking she was the responsible one — lessons about slowing down, noticing the good in the everyday, finding perspective when things fall apart, and remembering that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be good.

Whether you live in the city, the country, or somewhere in between, Alpaca Perspectives invites you to pause, breathe, smile, and see the extraordinary hiding inside the ordinary.

Perfect for readers who love:
• nature & wildlife photography
• slow living and mindfulness
• rural life stories
• heartfelt, humorous reflections
• gift books that uplift and inspire
• alpacas (or simply beautiful animals)

Warm, grounding, and visually stunning, Alpaca Perspectives is a book you’ll return to again and again — a gentle reminder that even on the toughest days, there is something good worth noticing.

Amee Dennis is a farmer, fibre artist, and storyteller from rural South Australia. Working from her family farm at Quentin Park Alpacas & Studio Gallery, she creates art and writing shaped by land, livestock, and the beautifully unpredictable rhythm of farm life. Her practice blends agriculture and creativity - transforming alpaca fleece into handmade pieces while capturing the humour, honesty, and daily realities of life on the land. Her writing is grounded, warm, and quietly insightful, drawn from the moments that rarely make the brochures but say everything about what it means to show up, keep going, and find the good in the everyday.Alpaca Perspectives pairs Amee's reflective storytelling with the photography of Nicole Drew, whose images honour the character and spirit of the animals who inspired the book.
