1845. Folio, pp. text, followed by 48 facsimile plates. Printed by Charles Whittingham at the Chiswick Press for Bernard Quaritch, London, 1845. The plates are executed in a number of techniques, including monochrome collotypes (mostly illustrating woodcut initials), chromolithographs, and hand colored reproductions of decorative initials. Many plates have also had gold added by hand. Some occurs irregularly throughout this copy, although on some leaves it is only a trace. Overall, the plates are in quite good condition. Bound in half crushed levant over cloth boards, with some rubbing to extremities and bumped corners. Overall, a quite sound copy of a scarce and beautifully produced work. Bookseller Inventory #
