A new edition, and the first with this two-page Betjeman foreword. 8vo. x, 320pp. Blue cloth lettered in light blue at the spine. Top edge lightly spotted, and with some offsetting from the dust wrapper design to the backstrip cloth. A very good copy in the handsome pictorial dust wrapper designed by Stein, non-price-clipped but very lightly dust soiled and with some wear to the head of the spine panel and to one or two other extremities. A very nice copy of this new edition of the author's quite early novel, and the first part of a trilogy which was completed by 'The Parson's Progress' (1923) and 'The Heavenly Ladder' (1924).
