Barrie Cassileth is a member of the Advisory Council to the National Institutes of Health Office of Alternative Medicine, as well as a member of the public policy and complementary and alternative medicine committees of the American Cancer Society. A sought-out lecturer, she is a professor (adjunct) of medicine (oncology) at the University of North Carolina and consulting professor of community and family medicine at Duke University.
