It was a season when football traditions were turned upside down: the Cup final was played in Wales, England appointed a Swede as manager and Coventry finally went down. And it all proved to be such a breath of fresh air that everyone wondered why it hadn't happened years ago - apart from Coventry fans, obviously.
In the third volume of Always Next Year, contributors to When Saturday Comes tell the story of the 2000-01 season as they saw it in all four English divisions, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and some parts of Europe that UEFA hope will never feature in the Champions League.
Includes Harry Pearson's analysis of Middlesbrough's three managers, a detailed description of the goal of the season (at Mansfield v Hartlepool) and handy advice on how to buy tickets for Iceland's international matches.
