You Are Always With Me: A Poem for Those at Home When a Loved One Deploys

A beautifully illustrated children's book designed to help deployed service members, and the deployed civilians who support them, connect with their loved-ones.

Written by an author who has worked in support of the military overseas, "You Are Always With Me" is an illustrated rhyming poem intended for those at home when a service member or civilian deploys. The poem reassures those encountering this separation by addressing the emotions they often feel:

Although many women service members deploy, as do many civilians, most of the books on this subject are intended for families of male soldiers. "You are Always With Me" is unique in that it is appropriate for any branch of service, and any age, race, or gender.

Daniel L. Berry originally wrote the poem that became his first book, "You Are Always With Me: A Poem for Those at Home When a Loved One Deploys", as a way to connect with his family while working overseas in support of the military. As a civilian contractor pilot, Daniel had the privilege of flying over 500 combat support missions over 14 deployments during Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom's Sentinel. He continues to work as a professional pilot, and is a member of the Military Writer's Society of America. Daniel has always been passionate about writing. He earned a bachelor's degree in English Writing from the University of Colorado, and has completed additional coursework through the UCLA Extension Writer's Program.
