This Special Collector's Edition hardback was published by The Folio Society in London, England in 2018. Our copies were bought from The Folio Society in 2024 and are in perfectly 'New' condition. The Society went to town on this edition. The book features illustrations by comic book artist Chris Samnee and isl introduced by Michael Moorcock. The Society describes this book as a triumph of both cult and mainstream literature and book did win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2001. Delivering all the thrills of Golden Age comics and a deeply humane story about hope and tragedy ? all via an exuberant literary voice ? it has become one of the defining novels of the modern age. The production details are: bound in blocked coated paper; set in Utopia with Scriptorama Markdown display; there are 632 numbered pages; there is a Frontispiece, three single-page and six double-page spread colour illustrations. The slip case is blocked and die-cut and the slip- cased book measures in inches 10.2 x 7.3 and weighs 1.71 kg. The Society's Synopsis: it is 1939 and Adolf Hitler casts a long shadow over Europe. Josef Kavalier has fled to New York, finding a kindred spirit in his comics-loving cousin Sammy Clay. Filled with dreams of liberty for those left behind, Josef and his new partner create the Escapist, a masked hero who can take the fight to the Nazis even as America remains reluctant to get involved.
