Horses are born looking for a herd, dogs for a pack, and people for God. The quality of every horse, dog, or human life is the quality of the relationships enjoyed or endured. 

The “Amazing Grays” are two gray quarter horses who led the author from a successful career in the horse industry to ministry with horses. As Lynn says, “You can’t fool God and you can’t fool a horse. And, like God, horses treat you precisely as you deserve, unless they give you grace.”

The search for love, security, companionship, and fun is universal. Creating relationships that deliver great blessing without excessive baggage isn’t easy in our complex world. The foundations of commitment, faith, and effective correction are shared in stories from the author’s years as an equine professional. Simply put, the only reason you don’t enjoy perfection with your horse, your family, your neighbors, and God is that someone is either unable or unwilling to do what is needed. Quite often, that someone is you.

Horses are no more impressed that I am a World and National Champion breeder and trainer than is God.  I am blessed beyond words to live in the company of horses. My delight in the relationship shared with my horses is new again each morning. Six horses live in the barn with my husband and me. Or, maybe it would be more accurate to say we live in the barn with them. .Why "Amazing Grays"? Two gray quarter horses, Bo and Swizzle, knew what God had in mind before I did. The day I (finally) realized that the lessons I thought I was teaching my grays were lessons God was teaching me was an exercise in both wonder and humility. The love of all things "horse" is as long as my memory. When I was four years old I was overjoyed to finally sit on a full-size horse for the first time. I fell off, got stepped on -- and was captivated! What explains this devotion to horses that some of us never outgrow? From motivational speaker to equine professional to author - every lesson I've learned along the way proves that success is based on recognizing and properly making what turn out to be ridiculously simple choices. It isn't coincidental that the three things God asks from me are the precisely the same three things I asked from the many hundreds of horses I've worked with:  1. Show up.2. Focus.3. Writing this book was a huge departure from my normal routines as a horse trainer, breeder, judge, and consultant to the equine industry. There have been more horses and books in the seven years since I wrote "Amazing Grays." .The common thread from beginning to end is God's unfailing grace. How that applied to my life with horses was a mystery until I sat down to write the last chapter of this book, "The Spotted Wonder." My office was decorated with bronze statues won by the horse who changed my life. Until that moment I believed the large painting on the wall of "The Spotted Wonder" and me was a testament to my success. In that instant I discovered that it was actually evidence of my greatest failure. .This book was a journey of discovery for me - and the journey continues. From what I'm told, the book speaks to readers in an equally unique and personal way. But isn't that the beauty of relationship? Each one is just as special as every horse and every child of the King of Kings.
