A scarce press release issued by far right demagogue Gerald L. K. Smith in which he announces the formation of an America First party to counter the "Henry Wallace philosophy of internationalism and the [Wendell] Wilkie philosophy of world politics." In January 1943 Smtih convened 500 "leaders" (supporters) in Detroit to establish the party, which he maintained was a "safety-first move.in case old parties go internationalist in 1944." He sidesteps the previous America First Committee's isolationism (which he supported) stating his hope for a quick and decisive military victory, and instead focuses on the post-war political climate and the need for a third party. Smith campaigned for President in 1944 and continued to promote the party until 1946 when it was replaced by the Christian Nationalist Party (superseded by the Christian Nationalist Crusade the following year). Three corner-stapled 14" x 8 ½" sheets of yellow stock, mimeographed on rectos only. A few notations to the first sheet, light edge wear and toning. Not found by us separately catalogued in WorldCat.
