179 pp., 4to., printed wrappers. Facsimile reprint of the work originally published in 1942. A bibliography of 572 of the earliest imprints issued in Utica, N.Y. Printing historian Douglas C. McMurtrie (1888-1944) was editor of the American Imprints Inventory project undertaken by the Historical Records Survey of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Depression. This title is not credited to McMurtrie as he is in numerous other volumes in the series; the preface states he was consultant to the project until July 15, 1941, although he was national editor of the project (McMurtrie's job was terminated following some unpleasant disagreement with the Historical Records Survey leadership, but he was allowed to resign). A good working copy only, with wear and some fading and dampstaining to wrappers; sporadic marginal pencil marks and annotations. Seller Inventory # 2007
