McMurtrie (1888-1944) was editor of the American Imprints Inventory project undertaken by the Historical Records Survey of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Depression. This work is an expansion of McMurtrie's bibliography issued in 1936, before the WPA project commenced. Compliments slip laid in. Good copy, with wear and chipping to front wrapper and spine; several pages show small areas of dampstain.
