About this Item
American Mercury, hardcover of six bound volumes of the magazine from January-June of 1958. Excellent condition. Based on its history and the articles that are featured, it s clear that this was an extremely conservative/right-wing publication. Lead story for January: The Deadly Menace of the Pseudo Liberals by J. Edgar Hoover (U.S. FBI director at the time) Inside story: Our Confiscatory Tax System Via Karl Marx by Gen. Douglas MacArthur. February cover story: The Voice of States Rights by U.S. Senator Herman Talmadge. Inside Don t Let Them Take Your Guns by Karl Hess. Black cloth cover and entire volume in excellent condition tight unmarked. Gilt lettering on front and spine. Somewhat surprisingly, we are still debating many of these topics today.
