Hardcover, half leather and paper-covered boards, red leather spine label with gilt lettering (chipped), 9 x 5 3/4 inches, 158 pp. Moderate wear, erosion, staining/soiling, paper and leather of boards and spine. Previous owner's inkstamp and signature in multiple places. Moderate uniform browning of paper (but not brittle). Binding mildly shaken. One page (33/34) was apparently detached and glued back in by a previous owner, with obscuring of a small amount of text at the gutter of page 35. Local laws of Arizona, California, Colorado, Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. Copp was an attorney in Washington, D.C. Ads in the rear of the book, including: "Land Scrip Bought and Sold --- Sioux Half Breed Scrip"; "Do you Intend to go West, Among An Enterprising and Generous People? Then the very thing you need to make yourself familiar with the public land system, the homestead, pre-emption, timber culture, and other land laws is Copp's Settler's Guide, Price 25 cts."; "Are You Interested in Mines? Then you need Copp's List of Patented Mines"; "Important to American Heirs. 25,000 Names. Send 10 cents in postage stamps and secure a pamphlet giving 25,000 names of Soldiers, Widows and Children, to whom Military Bounty Land Warrants have been issued, which warrants are still outstanding and unlocated.'; Is Your Title Defective? Do not rest secure until patent issues for your land."; "Important to Ex-Soldiers & Heirs. 300,000 persons who have not yet applied, are said to be entitled to pensions. Are you one of them? Were you, or your father, or your son, or your husband, or your brother, a Union Soldier or Sailor in the late war? Do not delay one moment but write, stating fully the facts. Have your case investigated. No charge is made for expressing an opinion. No apology is needed for a late application for pension. Dozens are applying every month under the recent liberal decisions."
