A broken run of 13 issues of this long-running Islamic newspaper that was founded in 1960 as Muhammad Speaks. It was renamed Bilalian News in 1975, World Muslim News in 1981, American Muslim Journal in 1982, and Muslim Journal in 1985. An important information source for black Muslims in the U.S., the newspaper covered politics, the local, national, and international Muslim communities, racism and other issues affecting black Americans, etc. Many issues also include a supplement, World News Examiner. Issues include American Muslim Journal, Vol. 9, No. 41 (Sept. 7, 1984); Muslim Journal, Vol. 10, No. 28 (May 10, 1985); Vol. 11, No. 2 (Nov. 8, 1985); Vol. 18, Nos. 12 (Jan. 8, 1993), 17 (Feb. 12, 1993), 25 (Apr. 9, 1993); Vol. 19, No. 42 (Aug. 5, 1994); Vol. 20, Nos. 23 (Mar. 24, 1995), 35 (June 16, 1995); Vol. 21, No. 23 (Mar. 22, 1996); Vol. 22, No. 18 (Feb. 14, 1997), 20 (Feb. 28, 1997); Vol. 39, No. 21 (Feb. 14, 2014). Tabloid format printed in black and color on newsprint, most issues 28 p., a few earlier ones 16 p., heavily illustrated.
