A Good copy. The September 1854 (Vol. XX, No. 3) issue of the American Phrenological Journal, a magazine dedicated to the pseudoscience of phrenology. Phrenology correlates features of the skull to personality traits and intelligence. The magazine also included other subjects such as science, news, poetry, and literature. The American Phrenological Journal was published from 1838-1911. The publisher of the magazine, Fowler and Wells, was founded in 1835 by brothers Orson and Lorenzo Fowler who were later joined by Samuel Wells. Although principally known as a publisher and phrenological institution, Fowler and Wells contributed to scientific fields such as physiology and hygiene.
