Size: 16mo. 2-volume set (complete). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Top edge gilt, faded. Two-volume set, a Note before the table of contents reads: "The text of this edition was thoroughly revised by Mr. Fiske in September, 1896, and new matter was added in many places." Three-quarter blue gilt stamped and decorated leather and blue cloth over boards, five raised bands on spine, marbled endpapers; Volume I, xiv, 402 pages, frontispiece portrait with tissue of Benjamin Franklin, engraved portraits of John Hancock, George Washington, and Philip Schuyler with tissues; Volume II, frontispiece portrait with tissue of Paul Jones, xiv, 386 pages, Index, engraved portraits with tissue of Lord Chatham, George Rogers Clark, and Nathaniel Greene. Volume I has first signature loose and nearly detached, corners and spine ends bumped with some light wear, some wear along gutter front cover, interior pages lightly toned; Volume II covers soiled from finger marks, bumped at corners and spine ends with light wear, leather rubbed at head of spine front, interior pages lightly toned.
