Synopsis
Discusses the costs, techniques, procedures, and alternatives of different cosmetic surgeries
Reviews
Twenty members of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons contributed anonymously to this guide which is divided into four sections: the plastic surgeon, changing inherited traits, minimizing aging effects, and body recontouring. Each section uses a similar format, including discussions on the best surgery candidates, consultations, costs, procedures, recovery, troubleshooting, scars, and success. Written in lay terms, the guide presents a balanced view of what plastic surgery can and cannot do, its limitations and complications. Drawings are used to illustrate each procedure. More comprehensive than S.J. Stegman's Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery (Mosby, 1989), this guide provides reliable information for potential surgery candidates. Recommended for all medical collections.
