Mary Lu Abbott, an award-winning writer, photographer and travel editor, helped launch Where to Retire magazine in 1992. As editor, she has become a leading authority on the ins and outs of retirement relocation. A graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in journalism, Abbott spent more than 20 years at the Houston Chronicle working her way from a features writer to the travel editor before joining Vacation Publications in 1989. For Where to Retire, she has covered thousands of miles on scouting trips to seek intriguing destinations, charming towns and evolving trends in retirement lifestyles today.

Annette Fuller, managing editor of Where to Retire magazine, has been a lifelong journalist, working in reporting and editing at The Dallas Morning News, the Indianapolis Star, the Baton Rouge Advocate, the Winston-Salem (NC) Journal and the Denton (TX) Record-Chronicle. From 2007 to 2010, she worked internationally, first as a consultant for the U.S. Department of State promoting journalism in Algeria in North Africa, and later as a trainer and editor at China Daily in Beijing. A native, of Elkin, NC, she is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
