Analog: A Memoir and Field Guide for Living The Good Life Now

Most of us are told the same story: work hard, climb the ladder, save for retirement, and someday you'll finally get to enjoy life.

But what if "someday" never comes?

When entrepreneur Chris Schultz lost his father just as he was about to begin retirement, it changed everything. That loss became his clarion call to stop waiting and live The Good Life now.

Part memoir, part field guide, Analog blends personal stories of entrepreneurship, adventure, and community with practical lessons for anyone ready to step off the hamster wheel and take the wheel of their own life.

This isn't another "10 steps to success" book. Instead, Chris pulls back the curtain on his own journey-startups that soared, ideas that flopped, moments of doubt, bold leaps, and surprising wins. Along the way, he distills the lessons that matter most:

• Agency matters. Freedom comes when you put your hands firmly on the wheel of your life and career.
• Resilience is a practice. Life will throw curveballs-personal loss, disasters, setbacks. Resilience isn't about bouncing back, but about moving forward with courage and creativity.
• First believers change everything. Sometimes all it takes is one person to believe-in you, or in the dream you're chasing-to transform the possible into reality.
• Failures are teachers. Every dead end contains a lesson. Success comes from daring, learning, and daring again.
• Meaning fuels purpose. You don't need to wait for retirement to live with intention. Joy, connection, and impact can be designed into your life today.

Through stories of building businesses, creating communities, and finding joy in the everyday, Schultz invites you to reset your goal: not saving happiness for someday, but creating it now-in work, in family, and in the life you choose to design.

Whether you're an entrepreneur, a creative, or simply someone rethinking what "success" means, Analog offers both hard-won wisdom and an urgent reminder:

You're worth the risk.

The Good Life isn't someday. It starts today.

Chris Schultz is a serial entrepreneur, investor, and community builder who has launched over forty businesses and invested in dozens more. He's the founder of creative communities that span from coworking hubs to music festivals. His memoir, Analog: How to Love Your Work and Not Wait for Retirement to Live the Good Life, was born from a journey through tragedy and renewal - losing his father, surviving California wildfires, and rebuilding after business failures. Through hard lessons and deep reflection, Schultz discovered the power of radical agency: the art of consciously designing a life filled with meaning, joy, and freedom. His work inspires readers to take control of their own path, reconnect with purpose, and live fully - right now, not someday.
