This book is in very good condition. There is a water stain on the bottom of the book but there are no tears. A few pages are separated due to glue drying out. This is part of the Condon Lecture Series. This lecture was originally given in 1948 and this is an updated version. Condon discovered the tree fossils in the 1850s at Bridge Creek.Thomas Condon was a pioneer geologist and eventually a professor at the University of Oregon. He returned to the John Day Basin many times and collected many specimens of the ancient Oregon forest fossils. Chaney based his lecture on these fossils. None of the trees of the fossils exist in Oregon today. There are black and white photographs. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education.
