Anderson (1693-1765) was a Scottish economist, and for forty years was a clerk in South Sea house, the headquarters of the South Sea Company. Late in his life Anderson traveled to the American colonies, begetting a son, Adam E. Anderson, later noted for being an early settler and planner of the Ohio territory.
