Salter who gives his address as Rochester Terrace, Stoke Newington. Salter notes on the title page "I write from practice not from books arrange". And the preface" I have employed some of my leisure time in writing this Work as a direction or guide to the young and inexperienced angler, the information it contains such has been acquired by practice and experience in the art during the last forty years". A much-reprinted work, The first edition is particularly scarce. W.S. 186.
