Synopsis
A survey of the characteristics, habits, and natural environment of animals from all over the world introduces the scientific grouping and classification of animal life
From School Library Journal
Two books that provide a wealth of information in an appealing, colorful format. Space Exploration covers leading scientists, the solar system, constellations, space-travel history, space equipment, and alien life. Animal Life discusses the habitats, eating cycles, senses, reproduction, and communities of the animal kingdom. Both titles will appeal to independent readers or children doing basic science reports, and they will act as stepping stones for students too old for the "New True Books" (Childrens) and not quite ready for the Raintree Illustrated Science Encyclopedia (Raintree, 1984). Concise, well-written texts are supplemented by colorful photos and illustrations. Perhaps the only drawback is that each topic is covered in only two pages, leaving readers wanting more. --Susan Penny, St. Cecilia School, Houston
